The Story of FiberSmart

Post by David Wang | May 27, 2023

For the first time in the world’s networking history, robots can make optical fiber connections.
It has been a manual process by a human for several decades since the beginning of networks.

The robots are what FiberSmart has created in a 10 year effort based on a 20 year company journey.

Physically connecting things in a network is now done by software commanded by human intelligence. The beauty is that it’s 10,000 times faster, 100% accurate and done from anywhere in the world.

Isn’t that what many aspects of our work and life have evolved to?

Yes, FiberSmart has created a new button for the world – press it to connect optical fibers!

What does this do to the industry and all of us?

Well, we have just freed up a few million hard working laborers from decades in the field.

We have enabled a new generation of networking professionals to no longer have to pull cables all day.

We just made our networks 100 times more reliable and secure as human errors are finally eliminated.

As we are making automatic connections and data is 100% accurate, the industry will improve its financial capital efficiency by 10 times.

This means we, as consumers, can have higher speed Internet, cheaper.

The FiberSmart journey started in a home garage in Silicon Valley by the founder, David Wang, a networking veteran.

David’s former career gave him many experiences with technical issues involving cables and connections in networks, often mission critical.

David decided to start a company to tackle this worldwide problem, with his own money.

It’s a totally non-conventional Silicon Valley startup style.

Why did David do that ?

David said: “This is an unpopular area for investors. But it’s a problem everywhere, which means it must be solved. It’s a huge problem that’s worth solving. In return, it will be a tremendous opportunity.”

FiberSmart’s first decade was to build an innovative cabling company. And it did it by winning over large customers, such as Google, Apple, Cisco, Juniper, Broadcom and 100+ others.

Listening and learning have been part of the DNA of the company. But learning is not just for learning’s sake. It is about making a groundbreaking innovation.
